Over the years Kathy has completed many commissions for both individuals and corporations. The motivation for the commissioning of an original painting is to create something that has a personal and sentimental value for a particular person or persons. This could be an animal, child, building or scene that represents a personal attachment for an individual. Kathy enjoys the challenge and the process of recreating the mood and representing a special moment in time; she has also traveled to particular locations to help recreate the mood of a setting that better meets a client's needs.
Original paintings by Kathy have a luminous quality that cannot be captured by any other media. A commissioned painting represents a lasting memory, which will bring a smile to your face every time you look at it.
Good photographs are essential for capturing the character of the animal, child, landscape or building. The owner may wish to supply the photograph, subject to Kathy's approval. We can offer you tips for taking better photos, or you can bring your pet to Kathy to have her take the photos at an extra charge. If you like, you can choose the photo that best reflects the mood or personality you are looking for. All photographs taken by Kathy will remain in her collection.
Originals by Kathy Hagerman include a specific selection of high quality custom frames. Other frames are available at an additional charge. Kathy retains copyright to all her paintings, and therefore has the right to have commissions reproduced as prints, greeting cards etc.
Original grease pencil and graphite drawing

Detailed sketches are usually done in a combination of grease pencil and graphite pencil and start at $950. (Approximate framed size 25 x 30”OD.)
- Currently, original paintings are in oil or acrylic.

A $500 deposit is required at the time of placing your order. This puts your name on a waiting list. Currently, it could take up to one year to complete.

50% deposit is required when Kathy starts the painting, then the balance is due on completion.

More than one animal or child in a painting is subject to an additional charge.

Specific backgrounds may be charged extra on smaller pieces.

Framed originals include a 1 x 3” brass plate that states: Title, Media and Original Painting by Kathy Hagerman.
